Showcase/Gala Silent Auction

Sunday, May 31, 2020

Dear Friends of Knock On Wood Tap Studio and Capitol Tap,

Twenty-five years ago, co-founders Yvonne Edwards and Renee Kreithen created a dance studio singularly focused on the art of tap dance. Ten years ago, Lisa Swenton-Eppard created a pre-professional tap dance ensemble for young dancers to grow beyond the classroom. On Sunday, May 31, 2020, a celebration honoring the accomplishments of Knock On Wood Tap Studio and Capitol Tap will be held at the beautiful Silver Spring Civic Building.

Knock On Wood’s Annual Showcase, performances by resident companies Capitol Tap and District Tap and the studio’s Lunch Bunch, exciting surprise guest performances, recognitions, and a silent auction fundraiser will all be part of this celebration, and we’re hoping each of you, our dedicated Knock On Wood and Capitol Tap families, will participate. How can you help?

  • Register for class(es) to participate as a performer in the Showcase
  • Sponsor our event
  • Donate items to our silent auction fundraiser

Attached is more information on how to sponsor and donate items. Your contributions will help support the longest-running non-profit tap-only dance studio in the country and one of the best and most respected youth ensembles. Knock On Wood’s goals include refurbishing the beautiful sprung-maple floors, upgrading the sound systems, purchasing percussive instruments, and increasing the general operating fund. Capitol Tap’s goals include expanding their portable tap floor and incorporating full-time musicians.

Knock On Wood Tap Studio’s 25 years and Capitol Tap’s 10 years are remarkable, and our institutions will continue to foster pride in and respect for this iconic American art form, providing a platform for people to experience the joy of tap dance well into the future.
